Ride For Doug will take it's traditional a winding ride through the back roads of Langley, Abbotsford and Mission. The ride covers approximately 200km and includes 2 rest stops along the way. We like to say the flavour of the ride is "Sportbike roads at a cruiser pace".
We are aware of the construction on the 264th Overpass and Mission Bridge. They weren't very long delays when I did the

Ride For Doug is about knowing that we are not alone on this journey. Cheering us in and out is a great way to do that.
Please come join us and mingle with Doug and all the riders in the parking lot before the ride. Bring a picnic lunch and have a picnic on the lawn. Watching all the bikes leave the lot at once is a powerful metaphor for the support Doug's family receives at this event.
If you are at the Show and Shine - watch for our return. We will be rumbling back into the lot at around 5:15 pm. We can cheer and celebrate a successful ride together.
RFD needs dozens of volunteers to make it happen. Join our team and be part of this year's successful ride. There are a wide range of jobs for everyone.
VOLUNTEER
We're excited to have a combined Celebration BBQ for both RFD and Show and Shine for MD. Hear what your donations are doing, and catch up with old friends that you haven't seen in a couple of years. This Celebration is open for everyone. If you aren't riding with us, please come in time to check out the Show and Shine, and join in the celebration!
This year's program will be a bit different. We will be back outside (with some tables under cover if we need) and it will have a shorter format.
Celebration and Program is by donation - either online or at the event. This year there is no pre-registration. Just come out.
Celebration BBQ start - 5:30pm
Over the first 18 years of Ride For Doug, you have helped raise nearly $350,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. This money has supported research, and funded equipment for Muscular Dystrophy patients. You have additionally raised over $60,000 for special projects for Doug himself. (such as the Stair Lift Project in 2016, and towards the vehicle he we purchased in 2022) Thank you.
These links will be available for a short time post-ride if you still want to donate.
At Ride For Doug you get to choose where your support goes.
One option is to support Muscular Dystrophy Canada. This organization assists families of those in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. By selecting the GIVE TO MDC button, you will be helping with this key organization.
A second option is to support special projects for Doug's family. RFD has helped Doug with several large funding gaps in healthcare. At this point in time, there is not a specific piece of equipment needed, but as his mobility changes, Doug will need further equipment and accessibility renovations.
Regardless of which option you choose, we feel your support. Thank you.
Give directly to Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Donate to this year’s ride or register as a fundraiser to join us in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy.
Over the past 18 years, RFD participants have raised almost $350,000 for MDC. This money has gone on to fund research, purchase equipment, and educate people about Muscular Dystrophy.
These donations ARE eligible for tax deductions.
Last year, we raised money with the aim of making our basement suite accessible for Doug to live in. Life doesn't always come with turn by turn GPS. That space isn't available yet - so we will be using those funds to start accessible bathroom renovation and ceiling lifts in our upstairs bathroom so Doug can continue to live where he is.
This year we are continuing to fund those renovations. We are waiting for some estimates from Fraser Health on what they will support before we finalize our plans.
These donations are NOT tax deductible
A Show and Shine is an informal car get togther. People bring their cars to show off - while they check out everyone else's ride. It's free to wander around and see what is there.
If you select the GIVE TO MDC option, you will recieve a tax receipt. A receipt will be sent to you directly by Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
If you select the GIVE TO PROJECTS option, you are not eligible for a tax receipt.
We are test driving some changes to in person registration. 2025 Registration is 100% in person this year. (Eventbrite changed their pricing policy...)
Yes absolutely. We encourage you to bring a lunch and come out to see the riders leave. Mingle in the parking lot with everyone from 11am, and watch the ride leave at 1pm. Bring signs, cowbells, air horns!
Yes. The Celebration BBQ and program are back. Come check out the Show and Shine and watch all the bikes return. We usually pull in shortly after 5pm.
Ride For Doug happens on the shoulders of an army of volunteers. If you want to help out, follow this link VOLUNTEER.
We have! A few weeks after the 2021 RFD, we purchased a wheelchair accessible SUV. You need to see it. Come out to the ride and take a tour of a life changing piece of automotive hardware.
We are working on this. They should be available at theresawiebephotography.pixieset.com/ Thank you Theresa Wiebe Photography for your years of hard work!
Maybe We are not holding the usual format ride this year. We are exploring a new format for the Vancouver Island Ride. Perhaps an invitational longer tour? Watch the RFD social media for details.
